📝 JOB DESCRIPTION

Our clients seeks a highly skilled Chief Exterior Designer for both complete exteriors and lighting and components to join their Design Studio in Gothenburg. You will help define the exterior shape and the lighting solutions for their vehicle by conceiving, simulating, and prototyping advanced concepts that merge brand identity, safety, and emotion. You will work with total exteriors and lighting/component design, collaborating with engineering and suppliers to deliver future designs in exteriors and lighting that meets regulatory and performance targets.

✅ REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably Masters) in Industrial/Product/Transportation Design, Interaction/Lighting Design, or similar.
• 8+ years of professional experience in a leading role in the automotive exterior design with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency with exterior design and visualisation tools (Blender & Adobe Creative Suite).
• Demonstrated experience in managing the translating of concepts into feasible, manufacturable solutions with suppliers and engineering on board.
• Excellent communication in English (both written and verbal), with strong leadership and presentation skills.
• Managing people with a prototyping mindset; electrical/electronic basics and rapid prototyping skills are a plus.
• Knowledge of automotive regulations and constraints is a must.

💫 YOUR PROFILE

• Manage designers who create and deliver complete exterior design projects and worked with lighting concepts exterior systems (ambient, functional, and communication lighting).
• Manage the Development of exterior solutions that match technical constraints, suggesting light integrations into the vehicle's form (surfaces, gaps, joints, materials).
• Translate brand DNA into iconic design signatures and dynamic behaviors (e.g.,
welcome/farewell, charging indication, Interior Light themes, ADAS-linked signals).
• Create and lead engaging presentations or in some cases prototypes that effectively convey intent to stakeholders and suppliers.

• Technically rigorous with an eye for refined aesthetics and brand character.
• Manage structured and methodical; able to plan, document, and drive issues to closure.
• Collaborative and be a clear team communicator; comfortable managing technical reviews with
stakeholders and suppliers.
• Proactive, hands‐on, and resourceful under time constraints.
• Independent and proactive with a high sense of responsibility to the team.
